Notre Dame de Paris

In the days following the recent attacks in Paris, Notre Dame held a service.

There many people who came to the church for the service.  Even though many had to stand in the square in front of the building, there was a crowd throughout the service.  The crowd valued the chance to come together after the tragic events.

In the days after going to the service, I have seen many people continuing to go to cafés, restaurants and public events.  Although uncertainty and fear can easily consume, it is important to keep the spirit of the city unchanged by actions that attempt to spread terror.

All Saint's Day

This past week I did not have school because today is All Saint's Day. This break gave me a chance to visit some cities in Germany. I made sure to visit cemeteries while traveling, in part as a way to keep in mind those that have passed away.

Each of the cemeteries that I saw created a beautiful and peaceful green area in the middle of the large cities. These spaces were perfect for getting away from the noise and activity of the city. The quiet nature gave a perfect opportunity to think without distractions.

A little bit of peace and quiet can do a lot of good.
